Dropbox

Dropbox is a file sharing service that allows users to store files in the cloud, and access them from any device. Dropbox also offers additional features such as synchronization between computers, mobile devices and the web.

Dropbox has been around since 2007 when it was founded by Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi, who were both students at MIT at the time. Today, Dropbox has over 400 million users worldwide with over 100 million paying subscribers (as of March 2019).

As with most other file sharing services on this list, you can use Dropbox free-of-charge with up to 2GB of storage space — however if you’d like more space then there are paid plans available starting at $9.99 per month (for 1TB).

Google Drive

You may save files online and retrieve them from any device with Google Drive, a cloud storage service. These files can be shared with anybody who has access to your Google Drive account, including those without one.

To share files:

  • Open the app or website where you want to share the file (for example Gmail)
  • Click on “Attach” at the bottom of your email message window
  • Select “From My Computer” when prompted by Windows users; “Choose File” for Mac users

To use the app: * Tap ‘Select’ at top left corner of screen (iPad only) / Select ‘Open In’ from drop down menu next to Attach button (iPhone/iPod touch only)

OneDrive

Microsoft created the file syncing and storage service known as OneDrive. It allows users to store files online, then sync them to their computer or mobile device. OneDrive also offers other features such as sharing documents with others and viewing photos online.

OneDrive is accessible on any computer or tablet with a web browser as well as on Windows, MacOS, Android, and iOS devices. OneDrive comes with 15GB of free storage space–more than enough room for most users’ needs–but if you need more than that you can upgrade to 60GB ($5/month) or 100GB ($10/month). If you have Office 365 business plans that include SharePoint Online (or its predecessor), then those plans come with 30GB per user per month (up from 15GB).

Businesses can use OneDrive Business Plans starting at $2 per user/month (for 50 GB) up through $20 per user/month (for 300 GB).

iCloud

iCloud is a file-sharing service that allows you to access your files from any device, at any time. It’s also free and comes with all Apple devices.

It’s owned by Apple and was first released in 2011 as part of iOS 5 for iPhone users. iCloud comes with cloud storage and synchronization services for documents, photos, music, apps and more; it even handles email for you!

Box

Box is a cloud storage service and business file sharing service that allows you to easily share, sync, and manage files online. It’s secure, with encryption in place to protect your data from unauthorized access.

Box has apps for all major platforms including iOS, Android and Windows Phone. You can also access Box through its desktop app for Mac or Windows computers (Windows 10 only). The company offers an API for developers who want to integrate Box functionality into their own applications or websites
